How anyone can become a morning person
The majority of people don’t wake up cheerful and optimistic every morning. Most of us would like to endlessly keep hitting the snooze button and just roll around in bed until noon. But there’s usually school, work or some other responsibility that requires you to be up super early. So since you’re already getting up early anyway why not make the most of your morning and actually enjoy it?
Just like almost everything in your life waking up in the morning is a habit. And habits can be altered and adopted. Waking up early and starting your day the right way is proven to make people not only more productive throughout the day but more optimistic in general.
1. It starts with the night before
Getting enough sleep is obviously very important but it should be quality sleep. Don’t fall asleep with your headphones in and leave create a ritual where you put down all electronic devices 40 minutes before bed. You should sleep for about 6-8 hours every night.
If you’re used to getting to bed late you should start by moving your bedtime only 15-30 minutes earlier than usual. This way your body will slowly adjust to your new rhythm.
2. No snooze allowed!
When you’re setting your alarm for the next day you need to do it right. If you sleep through your alarm then pick an aggressive ringtone and change it up every couple of weeks. You should also try putting your phone on the other side of the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off. Another tip is to turn off the snooze option completely. This way you’ll subconsciously know that that’s your only chance to get up.
3. Make it the best part of your day
The best way to start liking the morning is to actually fill it with things you love doing the most. Create your own personal ritual that will give you a reason to get up and something to look forward to. If you like relaxing then just get a cup of coffee and a book or a laptop and spend your morning that way. If you like exercising do that. Whatever you love doing the most do it immediately when you wake up.
4. Get more done than everyone else
If you wake up super early you’ll have time to relax and start your work day before anyone else. That way you’ll finish earlier than usual and you can have the whole day for yourself. That sounds pretty good to us!
